In November 2013, Mastermelt Ltd completed the installation of a proprietary gas cleaning system to maintain their lead in the processing of precious metal refining. When you are operating a refinery in the centre of London space is at a premium so the only place to install the new system was on the roof of our Hatton Garden building!
Here is a series of photographs which show the replacement gas abatement system being installed and the work that not only went into its design but the complexity of installing such a system in a very limited space.
We firstly carried out a complete redesign and overhaul of the roofing steel work of the Hatton Garden site to support the new equipment.
An early start as the new equipment rolls into Hatton Garden.
The equipment is carefully unloaded ready for lifting.
Each piece is then lifted in turn onto the Mastermelt roof.
The final piece is carefully lowered into position.
The new system is then connected and commissioned.
The bespoke gas abatement system complete and operational, a testament to weeks of careful design and planning. The multi-stage system ensures that all particulate and chemicals are stripped from the output gases, leaving only water vapor to be released into the atmosphere.
